Never fails to excite. Forgive me Jeebus for looking forward to the Sabbath for an altogether reason.
I crave for this club, and I always will. The music, the dress, the patrons... beyond sexually enticing and dance inducing to be sure. The venue itself is sex personified. I <3 "goth."
A must. Period.
Club is definitely a 10 on my listing.
A listing of personal favorite bars and clubs in Southern California. NOT for the Top 40s, Hip-hop enthusiast. I prefer venues a bit less than suck.

The Redwood Bar and Grill *AKA "The Pirate Bar"*
Why do people call it "The Pirate Bar?" Well, because of the pirate stuff, of course! Coolest feature of this place, from the moment you enter you cannot help but notice wooden paneling, fish netting, ship and mermaid paintings hanging everywhere.
Now, I've ONLY been here to see bands play, so my critique is based entirely on that. I've had the food here, and the prices and quantities are very good. Nachos could feed at least 3, and the $4 Sweet Potato Fries had amazing in them. Pretty good selection of beer on tap too, and good drink prices for Downtown LA.
But the crowds, ugh. The stage is tiny, the floor is tiny. Getting to the bathroom is impossible once the bands get going. The thing that urks me the most is that the most typical crowds crowd the stage for the most typical acts. Somewhat depressing, especially once it becomes obvious that the band's LA native BFFs are the ones blocking walkways and bumping into you without apology, then leave before the headliner even sets up.
Rude.
I've never been here on a none-event night, but I imagine it to be much more chill. The music they play is always interesting. I would go again to see a band I like, and definitely want to go just to eat and drink.
As in all instances, hipsters will ruin the best of places, so this place is given a 7 on my listing.

Club Rock It - 80s, Electro, Top 40s
It's been around for a VERY long time, way before I even started to think about going to clubs. Moved a few times, but currently hosted at The Skyfox, in downtown Pomona, CA.
Definitely not the same club I remember from its time at the run down, D-Club in Azusa, CA. At least there, they had an 80s room AND a Dark Wave/Industrial room.
Last week I went to see some friends play at The Glass House, and after we decided to try the "new Rock It." Easy walking distance from where I was already parked, so yes there is plenty of free parking. The line was long unfortunately, but it was almost 11pm, so that was expected. The cover is very low compared to most clubs, $7, so I can't complain about that either. Unfortunately this club is 18+, something that only seemed to matter to me once I reached the wrong side of 21 XD.
The venue is kinda rad, just REALLY didn't like hunting this place for the 80s room. You need to walk through the other rooms/balconys to get there. Needless to say, once we found the 80s room, we never left it. The idea of "bumpin' and grindin'" as a form of dance will always baffle me.
The music was very typical, cheesy 80s. But Pomona is much easier to get to than Hollywood. Drinks were pricy as well, so get a good buzz going before getting there, or at least take advantage of the drink specials before 11.
With a rating of 1-Craptastic to 10-Made of Awesome, this place is given a 4 on my listing.

Doesn't need to be so difficult...
... To find clubs and bars that don't appease to the mindless entertainment of grinding to Top 40s. Especially in listings. I've spent more energy than I care to admit hunting down any 'alternative' venue I can have a couple of beers at.
The Switchboard has been a GODSEND, which I have used and will still continue to use. I'm not attempting to copy it, since I don't intend to be as vague or unbiased. I also won't be only focusing on goth/industrial clubs (as much as I do enjoy them). My generation is getting older, and 80s clubs aren't as endearing as they once were (R.I.P Club Beat It).
I enjoy going out as much as I can, I probably drink more often than I should, and anywhere I can find good tunes, I'm there. Simple as that.
